So the deal with being away for a long time is that everything may have changed. And as I come back now and then in SL I find myself completely lost. Wow! I can’t believe the amount of things that changed in SL since 2013. I first went shopping! yay! My avi from back in 2013 sure needed a make-over. Then I tried something I’ve always done… but it didn’t work this time.
hair shopping at truth
So heading over to Truth first for new hair! I always loved Truth hair and I am sure it’s still fab as always. And it was! So much hair to choose from, I almost couldn’t decide. But ended up buying the lovely Wanda Hair (see below). So upon landing I saw this lady with perfect looking hair and also wearing jeans and a basic top like me. But thé thing that really caught my eye were her feet! They we’re so perfect. Unlike my normal-looking-harshly-shaped-basic-body-feet. So I clicked her feet . And nothing happend. What?
I used to click people secretly all the time
So how am I now to figure out who the designer was of those lovely feet? And how about what other avi’s are wearing? Mesh objects have mess(h)ed up my SL experience! If you we’re wearing lovely hair, nice clothes, great jewelry and sexy shoes ánd you we’re standing next to be, you could almost figure out I was clicking every object on you in edit mode to view from which store it was. With Mesh objects I just can’t do this anymore… unless one of you know how this is still possible?
I’ll be off shopping and not clicking avi’s anymore. Adíós!
xxx Love, Farah
I’ve been out of SL for a while, maybe a year. My last blogpost on this blog was in 2010, and on FabFree in 2011 :)!! But I’ve still been following my lovely friend bloggers at FabFree and some other random blogs and feeds. I logged in today and started playing with the feature I was most curious about, which is “Depth of Field”. I loved it from pictures and love it now!
I turned my Graphics up to ‘Ultra’ and clicked on “Depth of field”! When I turned it on, everything got blurry! I use the regular SL viewer.
So I went with Torley’s Settings for May 2012! I love Torley btw ;), and it got me back in focus again!
Torley’s preferred settings (as of May 2012)
These are optimized for big bokeh, favoring strength over subtlety. Requires a fairly powerful graphics card, or performance will suffer:
- Tap Ctrl-0 4-6 times to zoom in and narrow the field of view, creating a more intimate relationship with the tightly-focused subject matter.
- Select Advanced menu > Debug Settings.
- Set RenderVolumeLODFactor =
8 or even
16, although that may be overkill. This makes it so curves don’t look jaggy when zoomed up close.
- As-needed, set RenderAvatarLODFactor =
8 or another high value too.
And the specific DoF settings:
- CameraAspectRatio =
- CameraFieldOfView =
- Higher is more blur, although you’ll need to vary this depending on the subject’s size and your camera’s distance from it.
- CameraFNumber =
- Again, vary this to taste. Lower is more blur.
- CameraFocalLength =
- Makes it easier to get up-close and personal with the subject without fuzzing out.
- CameraMaxCoC =
- Boosted from the default of
10, a good balance.
While taking pictures It seems that this feature asks a lot from your computers capacity as I almost crashed, hence the black screen. (Well I did crash eventually)!
I have to take smaller pictures to get me in focus again. I love the effect of “depth of field” though, it blurres out the background nice so it doesn’t distract from the person in the picture. I love this feature, and sure will be staying around to play and take pictures in SL again! I’m also wearing MESH pants which is new to me too!
